PIO FOGLIA AND PICTOGRAFIA
Pio Foglia had an idea maturing over the years to transform his photographic research in a real fresco.
In 2010 Pio Foglia met the craftsman artist Stefano Lazzari and with a solid partnership they studied the possibility of being able to transform images in frescoes.
Over the years through the study of the Pompeian frescoes, their composition and the colors used are the tests carried out tests on different types of materials and with different types of colors always starting from a photographic base in large format.
The final technique is recorded as Pictografia that gives life to a true fresco from a basic photographic image, projected on a base similar to a special type of slaked lime.
It is reinforced with a special netting that allows transport and is free of glues or industrial chemicals on which the image is created, resumed and handmade by skilled craftsmen restorers.
The use of oxide-based colours, deposited “a fresco” in a fresh “fine lime” base and seasoned three years provides unthinkable realism and makes the Fresco seem like it was painted 500 or 2000 years ago.
